Buy a used Maruti Ciaz SHVS and beat the odd even rule with aplomb!

With the Delhi government having devised a unique law that dictates which car can be driven on a particular date, the pilot initiative of testing ways to cut down on vehicular pollution in Delhi has been enforced from the first day of 2016. The policy dictates that vehicles with registration numbers ending with an odd number can drive on city roads on odd numbered dates while those ending with an even digit will be allowed to ply in the city on an even numbered date.

With an effort to deter the violations of this rule, a fine of Rs 2000 has been announced, although Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal stressed that the onus lies on the citizens of Delhi, to make this policy a success. This initiative to curb pollution in Delhi’s air would only extend out to the common man since government officials have been exempted. But there are exemptions for the common man as well. For example, all CNG driven cars, electric cars and hybrid vehicles along with two wheelers and vehicles driven by women for children and women only passengers and vehicles for the physically challenged people have been exempted from this law.

Keeping this in mind, when you think of purchasing a used car in Delhi, going for one which lies within exemptions makes more sense, since maintaining multiple vehicles to comply with the odd even rule may not be a convenient or feasible option for many.

Maruti Suzuki is India’s probably the most favourite brand that we have relied on for generations now. Ciaz SHVS which stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki, is an option definitely worth a try in Delhi because it offers the hybrid variant. Interestingly, the company has replaced the Ciaz's old diesel variants with the models that are SHVS equipped, which makes this a good option in the used car market too.

The Ciaz SHVS returns mileage of 28.09 km/l. This clearly makes the Ciaz SHVS hybrid India's most fuel efficient hybrid car. Suzuki’s new hybrid engine comes with an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) and offers engine power assistance using the motor and also offers a smart start-stop technology that automatically stops the engine while waiting at the traffic signals, and starts once the clutch is released.
