The exteriors of the Jeep compass has been refurbished with new additional features like Bi-Xenon HID headlamps with daytime running lights and a broad front bumper with strong cladding in black at the bottom. Another new feature of this model is the radiator grill and the hexagonal rings in chrome. The car is also set to be made out of a dent resistant material with wide opening door panel and the high ground clearance with cladding at the lower side of door panel.
When it comes to the rear profile the car will have new tail lamps which flows into the tailgate enhancing the sense of width, defogger, and the rear bumper with strong cladding at the bottom and chrome badging. The side profile is also not left out and gets a prominent shoulder line, squared wheel arches and a thick D-pillar to complete the twin-cab five seater SUV look. The other design highlight is the chrome strip that runs over the window line and flows around the car, differentiating the contrasting roof from the rest of the sheet metal.
The Compass’ mimics some of the Cherokee’s design bits like the clamshell hood with a dual break line and centre bulge besides the sleek pair of headlights.
The Jeep Compass interiors has been upgraded with the addition of premium upholstery for the seats, and refined trims and finishing. Cabin is top notch in terms of styling, sporting dual-tone finish and premium quality material. The cabin is airy and spacious and has a soothing hue courtesy the all-white leather upholstery. The seat matrix will have eight-way power adjust driver and co-passenger seats and the driver seat will have lumbar support adjust for the comfort posture of the driver. The rear seat with foldable backrest for extending the luggage space. There is plenty of space inside the car with ample leg and shoulder room, thigh support and side bolstering for all passengers ensuring a comfortable side. The headroom provided for the rear passengers is also praise worthy.
The dashboard houses a 7-inch display for Jeep’s UConnect infotainment system and further down, there’s a sturdy metal gear knob, terrain control dial and an electronic parking brake. In terms of features the Compass gets dual zone climate control, LED taillights, electrically retractable ORVMs, a 7-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone mirroring, touch navigation , a brilliant sounding 6-speaker audio system with surround speakers for the high quality of audio and video, automatic air conditioning with air vents for the rear seat occupants, air-cooled glove box, centre armrest with cup holders, keyless entry with passive go, cap less fuel system, power tailgate and a glass sunroof.
The Jeep Compass will be loaded with 70 safety and security provisions including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist , hill start assist, 6 airbags, rollover mitigation system, adaptive brake lights, cornering lights, four-channel ABS and ESP, Panic Brake Assist, Hydraulic Booster Failure Compensation, Electronic Roll Mitigation and Electronic Brake Pre-fill.
While the Compass is set to get about 17 powertrain options globally, for India they have the 170bhp 2.0-litre Multijet II engine. It also has a petrol engine option – the 1.4-litre T-Jet engine from Fiat that develops over 160bhp of power. The top trim petrol engine comes mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. However, other trims in petrol and diesel variants are offered with a six speed manual transmission.
The car comes in 10 different variants with the lowest variant tagged with a price tag of Rs 15 lakh and the top end model having a price tag Rs 21 lakh.
