Indian auto car maker Mahindra and Mahindra wants to sell Electric Cars in US
The latest trend in the car market is the use of electric cars. It is proving to be a strong contender to the conventional fuel run cars. The electric car has been around in the automobile market for almost half a decade now with the total tally of electric cars on US roads reaching up to 38% of the total vehicle population. Many automobile companies have started manufacturing electric cars keeping in the mind the numerous upsides of the car as compared to the gasoline powered ones.
Electric Cars in US
The Indian automobile giant Mahindra and Mahindra and not behind either and is considering to begin U.S. sales of its electric vehicle after the establishment of its first headquarters in US. Mahindra produces a wide range of vehicles, including cars and SUVs, but most of its products are sold in Asia and developing countries. Mahindra and Mahindra has been building electric vehicles in India since the mid-1990s, when it developed a small fleet battery-powered, three-wheeled rickshaws for use in Delhi. They bought Reva Electric Car Co, a small Bangalore-based manufacturer, in 2010 and transformed it into Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd, which designs and builds compact electric vehicles for the Indian market. They tied up with Ford motors later that year to strengthen themselves up on the technology front especially for the electric vehicles.
Mahindra and Mahindra took over 2 automobile companies, Ssangyong in 2011 and Pininfarina in 2015. They are currently collaborating with both these companies for the development of electric vehicle which are to be sold in both the United States and China. Under its ownership, the Italian brand Pininfarina began developing a family of electric cars that includes the H600 sedan and the H2 Speed Concept supercar. Crossovers are SUV are also likely in the books. It is also reported that Ssangyong plans to launch an all-electric crossover vehicle in Korea in 2019. In spite of its astonishing progress in the electric car production market it will still take at least a couple of years until Mahindra and Mahindra brings an actual car to the U.S market.
