MFC buying guide - Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire
Leveraging on the ground breaking success of the Swift hatchback car, Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift Dzire in the Indian car market way back in 2008. Since its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has managed to become the best selling sedan ever for Maruti. Now, the favourite car maker of India, Maruti has launched an updated version of the model with more features loaded and improved efficiency.

On the exterior, the new Swift Dzire sports a newly designed bumper and head lights with a black shade along with chrome accented fog lights bezel. The additional chrome accents and the redesigned bumper give the car a more elegant look. The looks are further improved by the new set of alloy wheels. However, when viewed from the rear position, this new version looks quite similar to the old version with the same wrap around style tail lamps and the boot lid. Stepping inside the car, we find that the general layout of all the controls including the dashboard have been kept the same, although Maruti has added some new features as standard across all models to be at par with the current trend in car technology.
In the updated feature list, the top models now have engine start stop button, front and rear charging socket , new upholstery, electrically operated rear view mirrors, audio and Bluetooth control mounted on the steering wheel, sensor for reverse parking and much more as standard features. The overall dimensions of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire are 3955 mm length, 1695 mm width and 1555 mm height. It comes with a wheel base of 2430 mm and offers ground clearance of 170 mm.
Talking about the engine specifications of this car, the new Maruti Swift Dzire is now driven by either the 1248 cc DDiS diesel engine or the 1197cc, K-series VVT petrol engine. While the diesel engine is capable of generating 75bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque, the petrol engine is capable of generating 85bhp of power and 115Nm of peak torque. Maruti Suzuki claims that they have made several updates in the engine hardware which has lead to better thermal efficiency and has reduced loss due to friction.

As a result, the Dzire now delivers a fuel efficiency of 26.59 kmpl for the diesel motor, which has gone up by around 13 per cent over the earlier model. Meanwhile, the petrol engine powered variant comes with a fuel efficiency of 20.85 kmpl, showing an improvement of over 9 per cent.
