MFC buying guide - Toyota Corolla

Toyota Europe has officially released some images of the much awaited Toyota Corolla Altis (known as Corolla in other countries). This sedan will be launched first in Australia in the first half of the next year. Moreover, the face lifted edition of this car will also be coming to India in 2017, although the date has not yet been confirmed. Toyota has unveiled the face lifted version of the Corolla prior to the international launch of this car which is scheduled to take place later on in this year. The face lifted car has received a style upgrade along with the addition of some new features for the global car markets, which are expected to come to India as well.

The face lifted new Corolla Altis gets a restyled front fascia with a single slat front radiator chrome grille that is flanked by new sleek looking head lamps. The front bumper is also new with a large central air dam and recessed fog lamps. At the rear end, there are new LED tail lights and a redesigned bumper also.

This car has also been given newly designed alloy wheels. In terms of features, the new model of the Toyota Corolla Altis has been given LED head lights with daytime running lamps on the top model along with the addition of safety features such as lane departure alert, automatic high beam and a pre-collision system which is a radar based technology that pre-emptively tightens the seat belts and pre-charges the brakes of the car in case of an unavoidable collision.

The Toyota Corolla Altis face lifted version is expected to reach the car market of India just after its international launch. Not much is known as yet about the engine spec of this sedan from Toyota. This car is likely to be powered by the same 1.8 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre diesel motor as in the current model and is also expected to give a miss to the radar based safety system in the India-spec car.

The Corolla Altis is sold in the overseas car markets in two variants with unique styling. The face lifted Corolla Altis model for the North American markets feature styles which are more in line with the new car Prius. The Indian auto market is expected to see the face lifted model of the Corolla that is on sale in Europe and Australia. Images of the two revised models of the Corolla were leaked online earlier this year in January which showed the differences in styles of the two models.
