MFC Buying Guide - Volkswagen Polo
The Volkswagen Polo is something of a legend in hatchback circles. It has always been the go-to vehicle for someone wanting a branded hatchback with good performance and something extra as compared to run of the mill compact vehicles. The Polo got a face lift some months earlier and this has definitely made it even better as per experts. The Polo feels refreshing and now comes with a 1.5 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine for the Indian market though its prices have always been steep and this aspect is unchanged even now.
Volkswagen Polo - A masterpiece in hatchback coating?
However, being a quality diesel hatchback, customers may still find it pretty attractive. The engine is pretty powerful and highway driving has never been more pleasurable. There is minimal turbo lag and the engine can be pushed without any complaints. There is responsive acceleration as well and city driving is also decent. The engine, however, feels a little too loud in the city and the clutch is also cumbersome at times. However, hassle free driving can be majorly expected with the quicker gear shifting and good power at lower speeds. Ride quality has also improved hugely for the Polo with Volkswagen specially tuning the suspension setup to a softer setting for Indian roads.
The car is more stable on poor roads and handling is better than before. The sporty steering feels responsive on open roads and this means better turning without hassles. The engine makes 230 Nm and 88 BHP which is pretty decent indeed. The fuel economy is also very impressive with an average of 19-20 kilometres per litre offered across variants. The signature design of the Polo is definitely attractive to many customers.
