Toyota Innova Crysta - will Toyota Repeat History?
The car maker, Toyota, has declared that the Multi Purpose Vehicle’s new updated model has thus far seen more than 18,000 bookings since its launch. Interestingly, more than 60% of the overall sales figure of this car belongs to the automatic top ZX variant. Due to the government imposed ban on diesel cars above 2000cc in Delhi and NCR which led to a dip in the sale, Toyota is planning to launch a petrol variant of the MPV very soon.
Toyota Innova Crysta
The new Toyota Innova Crysta is based on the brand new IMV (International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform, which makes it a lighter, safer and more robust model than its earlier version. Referred to as the FIRM (Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism), this new platform helps to enhance the front and side impact structures of this car. It also helps to improve the handling and ride experience. The Toyota Innova Crysta’s new ‘GD’ series of diesel engine claims to be much more fuel efficient than the old ‘KD’ engines (2.5 litre 2KD FTV and 3.0 litre 1KD FTV). This new Toyota Innova delivers an improved fuel efficiency of 14.29 kmpl (2.8 litre AT model) and 15.10 kmpl (2.4 litre MT model). It is available in three new vibrant shades - Garnet Red, White Pearl Crystal Shine and Avant-garde Bronze, along with the earlier Silver, Grey and Super White.

The huge demand of the new Innova Crysta has led to a resultant increase in the waiting period for its delivery to consumers. Currently, the MPV is known to have a waiting period of up to 4 months. Considering the increase in its demand, Toyota has planned to increase the production capacity of the Innova Crysta. As of now, Toyota is producing 7,000 units per month of the MPV.
