Hyundai i20 Has Surpassed The 1 Million Sales Mile Stone

Hyundai i20, the premium compact hatchback model from the house of our country's second largest car maker, has surpassed the 1 million units sales in terms of global sales. Hyundai had first launched the i20 in the country back in 2008 and had replaced it with the second generation model of this compact hatchback in the year 2014. At present, the i20 name plate, which has received more than 34 awards since its launch here, also includes the second generation i20 and the i20 Active.

Success of Hyundai i20

Mr Y.K. Koo - MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), said, "Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Hyundai i20's staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers sporty design, functionality and class-leading performance. We are extremely delighted that i20 models have achieved this milestone of 1 million global sales and met the aspirations of Indian and Global customers. Hyundai is Modern Premium brand that offers quality, innovation and value for money with awards winning cutting-edge technology, styling and performance. Hyundai is committed towards fulfilling the customers' aspirations and will continue to evolve its products as per the ever changing market trends."

Toyota Camry

The second generation model of the Hyundai i20 a.k.a. Elite i20 had arrived in the car market of India back in August, 2014 and has secured its name among the top 2 best selling models of the car maker here since then. This newer version of the i20 shares the same platform as the earlier model but has now been loaded with more features. The restyled front radiator grille with new fog lamps and sweptback projector head lights have been carried over to this new version from the older one. The fact that Hyundai considers both the i20 and the i20 Active in the same league has also leveraged the nameplate's numbers.

Morevover the i20 had been the top selling premium hatchback model in India till the Maruti Suzuki Baleno was launched. And ever since that time, the tag of 'segment leader' carries on to travel back and forth between these two cars.
