The one off instance of a heavily customized Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition wowed audiences at the Auto Expo that was held in Delhi in 2016 and is now ready to take bookings from consumers. All of the customization has been done in house at Mahindra’s Customization Division and this car is promised to be delivered to the buyer within a time span of two months.
Now coming to the customisations that are on offer, the Mahindra Thar Daybreak version has been upgraded to give it an even more rugged stance. It is being offered on board Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition and include the matte grey finishing to the exteriors, 37” Maxxis Trepador tyres which greatly increases the ground clearance as well as rock crawling capability, then heavy duty winch and off road bumpers. Buyers will also get projector head lights, a wider bonnet as well as auxiliary lights along with LED tail lights and air scoops on the bonnet while the rear end of the car will feature dual exhausts accented in chrome. Now as far as the interiors are concerned, customization options would include Sparco bucket seats, waterproof speakers and dual tone finishing.
Under the hood, no change to the engine set up has been done so as to avoid the constraints with the registration of the car and its insurance processes. Mahindra Thar CRDe therefore continues to be driven by a 2.5 litre engine which offers 105 bhp output at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm peak torque between 1,800 to 2,000 rpm and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The upgraded Mahindra Thar Daybreak comes with no performance upgrades, except for the rear axle differential lock system. However, the fairly modern 2.5 litre Common Rail Diesel engine delivers at least fair performance for on as well as off road applications. The Mahindra Thar Daybreak is expected to deliver up to 13 kmpl fuel economy in the city and about 15 kmpl for the highway.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Anand Mahindra, Chairman and MD of Mahindra and Mahindra declared a reward for well known Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik who made our country proud at the recently ended 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro. She is going to be awarded with the all new customized version of the Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition though the exact details about the level of customization have not yet been announced.
