Upcoming Suvs in India
Jeep will be offering front dual airbags, traction control, ESP, Hill ascend and descent control as some of the safety features. It will be driven by a 3.6 litre V6 petrol engine generating 281bhp of output and 353Nm of torque. The engine will come with a 5 speed automatic transmission. The Wrangler will be available in the long wheel base four door 'Unlimited' edition and priced at INR 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The Grand Cherokee that will come to India will have a new fascia and a radiator grille with multiple slats and thin LED head lights and turn indicators. The butch looks of the earlier Cherokee have been retained and is enhanced by the wheel arches, roof rails and big wheels of this car. The rear end of this will have wrap around LED tail lamps, chrome accents and a roof mounted spoiler. To keep the car lovers contented, Jeep will also launch the top of the range car Grand Cherokee SRT that comes with a massive V8 engine and a price tag of INR 1.12 crore (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The SRT model on offer will have a sporty stance with different head lights and the iconic SRT badge. The 'Grand' in the name of this car indicates the element of luxury but it also means that this Cherokee is the larger one of two siblings, but there will still be no space for three rows of seating.
In the global car markets, this will compete with double row SUVs like the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, with the notable three row cars being the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Climate control, touch screen infotainment system, power seat adjustment in the front, leather upholstery, auto dimming mirrors, AC for the second row are some of the features available as standard. This car is also expected to be the debut of the car maker’s latest infotainment system as well as new connectivity technology. The SRT model will get brown leather upholstery with SRT stitching and badge along with black and grey tone dashboard. The price of the Grabnd Cherokee starts at INR 93.64 lakh for the Limited version, and INR 1.03 crore for the Grand Cherokee Summit.
