Upcoming new SUV cars in the car market of India between 2016 and 2017
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has already taken on the compact SUV segment of cars in the car market of India by a storm with the recent launch of their Vitara Brezza. The car manufacturer has now got plans to come up with another SUV model that will be positioned in the sub compact SUV class. Named as the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, this car is one of the much awaited cars of all the new upcoming releases of SUV cars in the country in 2016 here. The Ignis is likely to share its engines with the ever so popular Swift hatchback and could even come with an AMT variant sometime after its first launch. The price range of Ignis is likely to be around INR 5 to 7 lakh and it will be rivalling against Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10 and Mahindra KUV 100.
Tata Motors is also set to launch their new SUV and will be entering the compact SUV segment with the Nexon Compact SUV. The car maker is said to be focusing heavily on the appearance of this vehicle, which they hope, will enable them in luring car buyers away from their rival cars. The final design of the production ready model of the Tata Nexon will be much similar to the concept car that was on display at the Auto Expo. Both petrol as well as diesel engine options will be on offer along with manual and AMT gearboxes. Tata Nexon is likely to be priced between INR 7 to 10 lakh and will be competing against cars such as Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra TUV 300.
The new Mahindra S201 could be a TUV 300 based crossover model that will be larger than 4 metres. This car is expected to be launched by the middle of the next year that is 2017. Price for the TUV 500 is expected to start at INR 8.50 lakh and the TUV500 will be pitted against competition with the likes of Renault Duster, Honda Br-V and Hyundai Creta.
