As per reports from various sources, Renault India has reduced the prices of the Lodgy 85 PS model in an attempt to boost the sales of this car. The price reduction ranges between INR 97,000 to 34,000, depending on the level of the trim.
However, the 110 PS model of the Lodgy will continue without any alterations to its price. The entry level model of Lodgy Std is tagged at INR 7.59 lakhs now as against the earlier cost of INR 8.56 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The Std focuses on the commercial fleet and taxi operators. The RxE 85 is now lesser in cost by INR 80,000, RxL 85 lesser by INR 56,000 and RxZ 85 by INR 34,000. All these prices mentioned here are ex-showroom Delhi and are effective from July 2016.
The reduction in the cost of the Lodgy has given the 7 seater people carrier which is built on the Duster’s platform a greater value-for-money factor than before. The car maker would be hoping to double the sales of this MPV after the prices have been revised now. The Lodgy is driven by the 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine which is offered in two states of tunes. The lower variant generates 85 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque while the higher variant is capable of delivering 110 PS of output and 245 Nm of max torque. The former version employs a 5 speed manual transmission while the latter is offered with a 6 speed manual transmission. Both variants deliver power to the front wheels of the car. The Renault Lodgy rivals against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio in a price bracket which is seeing fresh inflow of crossover SUV models of late.
