India’s most reliable and favoured car maker Maruti Suzuki has been in the headlines of news for a while these days. After the successful released of both of their cars the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, the car maker has already begun working on the next generation of their Swift hatchback. Maruti is expected to launch this new version by the end of next year i.e. 2017. While the details are sort of unclear at the moment and the car manufacturer is yet to declare an official launch date, it would be not be incorrect to assume that Maruti Suzuki will probably launch the next generation model of Swift in India soon after the international debut of this car. The 2017 Maruti Swift will be a much more upgraded car than the current version of Swift. The next generation Swift has been internally code named as the YSD. Test mules of the new generation Swift have been spotted on international roads and the leaked snaps have revealed what the car could look like.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift
The first generation model of the Maruti Swift was launched in Japan back in 2000, where it replaced the Suzuki Cultus. The second version of Maruti Swift was introduced in the year 2004. The current third generation of Swift was launched in 2010. Now, the next generation Maruti Swift will launch before FY 2018. Expectantly, the all new version of Swift will hit the market in India in late 2017. Expect the new Maruti Swift 2017 launch date to be some time around November 2017. The Swift will carry on to be placed below the new Baleno in the car maker’s product portfolio. In India, the Swift will still be the rival of Hyundai Grand i10 and will be available in both of petrol and diesel engine models. The Swift is an important vehicle for the car manufacturer and thus, the new 2017 Maruti Swift has got to fulfil many expectations.
At present, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is being offered at a starting cost of INR 4.7 lakh (ex- showroom Delhi). Though we do not have much information regarding the cost of the next generation of this car, we can expect it to be coming with a slightly higher price tag as compared to the current version of the car. And as we just said, it is being expected that the all new Swift 2017 could deliver a slightly improved fuel economy. The petrol variant is expected to deliver around 20 kmpl, whereas the diesel version of the all new car can be expected to offer up to 25 kmpl of mileage.
